Whether it's hot or cold outside, it's important to keep your cooling system in working order. Part of maintaining this system involves understanding its key components, and our team here at Jeff Smith Kia is here to help you with some tips and information.

The cooling system in your vehicle moves coolant or antifreeze from the engine to the radiator where the hot coolant is cooled by the air. When you travel frequently, your vehicle can lose coolant over time and need replacing.

When you need to top off the coolant, you want to make sure that the engine has had time to cool. Pressure builds up in the coolant system due to the heat, and opening it too early may cause an injury. You'll want to consult your owner's manual to know what type of coolant to add, and once the engine has cooled, you can simply unscrew the reservoir cap and add the coolant.
